Matsumoto Kōshirō X

Matsumoto Kōshirō X (十代目 松本 幸四郎), born Terumasa Fujima (藤間 照薫) on January 8, 1973, in Tokyo, Japan, is a prominent figure in the world of kabuki theater. He is widely recognized for his contributions to this traditional Japanese performing art. Throughout his illustrious career, he has also ventured into film, featuring in notable movies such as *April Story* (1998), *Ashura* (2005), and *The Samurai I Loved* (2005).

Kōshirō X is celebrated for his versatility on stage, performing under various names, including Matsumoto Kōshirō X, Ichikawa Somegorō VII, and Matsumoto Kintarō III, while also being known as Matsumoto Kinshō. He made his stage debut in 1978 at the esteemed Kabukiza Theatre, adopting the name Matsumoto Kintarō III.

In October 1981, he participated in a significant name-taking ceremony at the Kabukiza, which honored three generations of actors from the Kōraiya guild. During this event, Matsumoto Kōshirō VIII retired as Matsumoto Hakuō, and Kōshirō IX and Somegorō VII were established. The new Somegorō showcased his talents in prominent roles within the classic plays *Sukeroku Yukari no Edo Zakura* and *Gion Ichiriki Jaya*.

Matsumoto Kōshirō X's dedication to kabuki and his artistic achievements have solidified his status as a key figure in preserving and promoting this cultural heritage.
