Under the Sun (1998)

Olof resides alone on his family's farm following his mother's passing, struggling with illiteracy and relying on his younger friend Erik for assistance. Erik, a boastful former sailor, claims to have encountered countless women. Unexpectedly, Olof places an ad seeking a young housekeeper, leading to the arrival of Ellen, a middle-class woman from the city. As summer unfolds, she not only transforms the household but also captures Olof’s affection and ignites Erik's interest, complicating their friendship and stirring emotions in unexpected ways.
