On the Water Surface (2023)
Deniz returns to her hometown for her widowed mother’s wedding. Old feelings of anger, fear, and guilt she thought were buried come rushing back. When her mother leaves her the family house, a lingering tragedy haunts her—her father drowning at sea. She can’t shake the sense that her mother blames her and has moved on without her. Deniz realizes she can't heal unless she confronts the past. After a raw confrontation, she finally accepts what happened and steps into adulthood. Sitting by the shore, she feels calm. The sea no longer terrifies her—it feels like freedom. She dives in.
