Wife Wanted (1946)
Carole Raymond, a fading movie star, partners with Jeff Caldwell in a real estate venture. Unbeknownst to her, Caldwell operates a matrimonial agency through his secretary, Nola Reed, and together with accomplice Lee Kirby, they exploit and blackmail desperate individuals. Carole unwittingly attracts the attention of Walter Desmond, one of their targets, leading to his tragic suicide. However, reporter William Tyler suspects foul play and delves deeper into the sinister plot, determined to uncover the truth behind the façade of love and deception.
