Askeladd's forces break away from the Danish army and launch an assault on a village a hundred kilometers to the west. Disgusted, Thorfinn abandons the soldiers and ascends a nearby hill that overlooks the settlement, vowing to avenge his father. There, he unexpectedly finds Askeladd shrouded in shadows, who shares his thoughts on "Britannia," the passage of time, and the prophecy of Ragnarok, the ultimate confrontation.
