Renowned director Errol Morris becomes captivated by a notorious true crime case from 1970 involving the brutal slaying of a pregnant woman and her two young daughters at a military installation. Green Beret physician Jeffrey MacDonald claims that a group of drug-fueled hippies, headed by a girl wearing a floppy hat, was responsible for the tragedy. However, Army investigators assert that MacDonald himself is the true murderer.
