In the midst of this creative journey, she meets Pietro Airota, the son of a respected scholar, who soon proposes to her. Before returning to Naples, she shares her manuscript with him. Back home, Elena reconnects with her family and visits Ada, who fills her in on the tumultuous happenings she’s missed. After receiving surprising good news, she decides to seek out Lila, whose life has taken a significant turn.
