Mengqi Ji, a Chinese exchange student, built a life and fell in love with Joe Elledge in the picturesque college town of Columbia, Missouri, culminating in their marriage and the start of a family. However, in October 2019, her sudden disappearance sent shockwaves through her family, as she seemingly left to be with another man, leaving behind her young daughter, Anna, and her phone. Tragically, her remains were discovered by a hiker in February 2020.
