Mama's Family (1983)

After spending over 40 years shopping at Food Circus, Thelma is practically an expert on the store, even more so than its manager, Mr. Palmer. Impressed by her "old-fashioned horse sense," he hires her as a customer consultant to offer shoppers advice on their purchases. Her new spot is conveniently located next to Naomi's express lane. However, it isn’t long before Naomi starts to grumble about having her 'mother-in-law' nearby, claiming it's distracting her. In response, Mr. Palmer suggests that Mama should learn all about store operations, beginning with Naomi teaching her the ropes of being a checker. Mama's initial attempt at ringing up sales turns chaotic when she struggles with the register. Although her first few customers go well, things quickly spiral out of control when she takes ages to look up a special price, leading to a series of mishaps at the register.
