Following the passing of a donor, the nonprofit arts community in New York is left reeling, prompting Elsbeth to scrutinize the intentions of Gary, a close friend of the deceased and the creator of a well-known poetry journal. Meanwhile, Elsbeth encounters Marissa, who is taking a page from Eli's book as she manages the campaign for a mayoral hopeful.
