Crichton takes his module out for a spin, but things go awry when Moya starbursts, leaving him stranded in the void of space. Discovering a nearby planet, he settles down and manages to survive there for several months. When the rest of the crew eventually tracks him down, Crichton remains stubbornly convinced that Moya's departure wasn't accidental and grapples with his isolation and the circumstances that led to it.
