Mel and Joe are grappling with the shock of the pregnancy test results and Ryder's decision to enlist in the Navy. Concerned that Ryder isn't ready for such a big commitment, they come up with a scheme to have Joe put him through an intense mock Boot Camp to prepare him for the challenges ahead.
