Brian lands a writing assignment for a teen magazine focusing on the typical American girl. To gather material, he begins observing Meg, only to uncover that her struggles in the dating scene have led her to a boyfriend who’s currently incarcerated. When Brian attempts to reveal Meg’s secret to the family, he learns that her boyfriend, Luke, has escaped from prison and is now hiding out in the Griffin household.
