Arthur comes close to terminating Danny’s employment due to his negligence of triage procedures, which holds up the urgent care of a critically hurt prostitute suffering from AIDS. Meanwhile, Phillip steps in as the acting chief of staff after Hackett unexpectedly dies of a heart attack while with Angela in the MRI room. Tensions rise between Jeffrey and Arthur as they clash over the fate of a baboon that could extend the life of Jeffrey’s heart failure patient and Arthur’s AIDS patient.
