A filmmaker devises a scheme to undermine his own adaptation of "Romeo and Juliet" by selecting Fran as the main character. He believes that her inexperience will lead to the show's downfall, but as rehearsals progress, Fran surprises everyone with her talent and determination. As the opening night approaches, tensions rise, forcing the director to confront his motives and the unexpected journey of his leading lady.
