This episode highlights two African American politicians from distinct backgrounds and generations. John Lewis, who was raised in a sharecropping family in rural Georgia, contrasts sharply with Cory Booker, who grew up in a wealthy, predominantly white suburb of New Jersey. Despite their lifelong commitment to uplifting the African American community, both men are largely unaware of their own family histories.
