A group of Chinese immigrants establishes a settlement. Dr. Quinn encounters a young woman named Yumi Iwami, who is disguising herself as a man to pursue her passion for medicine, something her culture prohibits. Her grandfather, played by Robert Ito, is initially taken aback but ultimately stands by her decision.
