Rumpole takes on the case of young Jim Timson, accused of a violent robbery by 'Peanuts' Molloy, a member of a rival East End gang with whom the Timsons have a long-standing feud. Unfortunately, Jim's sole alibi is linked to a junior member of the Molloy clan. At the same time, Rumpole struggles to connect with his son, Nick. Additionally, he is preoccupied with the impending decision on who will become the new Head of Chambers at Number 3, Equity Court. Could he possibly entertain the thought that it might be him?
