For centuries, the Kazakh people of western Mongolia have collaborated with golden eagles to hunt for furs essential for surviving harsh winters. Wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan immerses himself in the nomadic lifestyle, gaining insights into these magnificent birds and assisting in the training of a young eagle for hunting. As Gordon navigates the challenges of training and flying the eagle, he encounters some tough lessons. The training begins when the eagle is still under a year old, and the Kazakhs prefer female eagles for their size and fierceness. Gordon dedicates time to building trust with his eagle, even sharing his tent with her. He also learns to manage riding with an eagle and pitches in with daily tasks. Ultimately, he competes against skilled hunters in a 'lure drag' tournament. While his young eagle hasn't perfected her hunting skills yet, she shows great potential.
