Ormerod finds himself in a challenging situation when a prison transport vehicle flips over on the moors. The driver dies, a guard sustains severe injuries, and one inmate manages to flee, while the others are taken to the hospital for care. There, Ken Hopkirk encounters an old acquaintance. Meanwhile, Goodwin misses a critical diagnosis of severe post-natal depression, leading to a near disaster when the mother is discovered perilously near a cliff.
