In this episode, we welcome Betty Buckley as Sue "Abby" Abbott, initially appearing as a special guest star. After suffering broken ankles during a touch football game, Tommy faces a five-week absence from school. Meanwhile, Mary decides to move in with her boyfriend, Doug, who is a young psychiatry student. To help Tommy keep up with his studies during his recovery, Sandra Sue Abbott is assigned to tutor him while he’s away from school.
