Veteran wrestler Milo Stavroupolis arrives in Mankato to take on the local challengers. His cunning promoter, Jimmy Hart, persuades Jonathan Garvey to step into the ring with the aging fighter, unaware that the match has been rigged. Yet, deeper troubles loom as Milo grapples with both physical pain and emotional turmoil from his long career, while his ailing wife, Anna, pleads for his retirement. Ultimately, Jonathan convinces Milo to take his place in the prestigious championship bout, setting the stage for an unexpected turn of events.
