Malcolm, along with his sister Maura, Eddie, and their mom Sheila, is busy organizing a surprise birthday party for his dad, Marcus. Tensions rise between Maura and Sheila as they clash over which cake they think is Marcus' favorite. The situation escalates even further when Eddie's Grandpa, Aunt Ruby, Uncle Lud, and Cousin Doyle show up unexpectedly, adding to the chaos of the preparations.
