On his challenging first day as a police officer, rookie Jake Vickers encounters a series of tough situations, including a mentally distressed individual threatening self-harm and a brazen shoplifter. However, being the Chief Superintendent's son adds another layer of difficulty for Jake, as he grapples with the need to gain the respect of his fellow officers.
