Ramirez, Quentin, and Clyde discover a quaint matriarchal coastal village, accessible only by a single suspension bridge that shields them from Kortan's troops. The women of the town have endured the loss of many husbands and sons to Arak's slave raids, prompting them to devise an escape plan from the country and Kortan's control. Retaining their ancient shipbuilding skills, they have secretly crafted a large sailboat. Just as they are preparing to leave, Arak appears, offering to free their captured men in exchange for surrendering the three fugitives.
