The Doctor, along with Sarah Jane and Harry, arrive on Earth via teleportation, aiming to verify that the planet is secure for the survivors aboard Nerva Beacon to come back and reclaim their home. However, they soon encounter Styre, a Sontaran who has taken a group of humans hostage. He is performing brutal experiments to identify vulnerabilities in the human body, all in pursuit of the Sontarans' ambition to conquer the galaxy.
