As the 4077th faces dwindling supplies, they receive a delivery of ice cream churns and salt tablets. However, what they truly require are light bulbs. In the poorly lit post-op area, Charles makes a critical mistake that earns him the furious ire of his fellow surgeons. Meanwhile, B.J. gets his hands on a mystery novel that piques the interest of everyone at camp. However, with the final page missing, the mystery remains unsolved until B.J. decides to reach out to the author via long-distance call.
