Nel faces rejection for a receptionist position, mistakenly believing her race was the reason behind it. When Addy opts to apply for the same role, she too is turned down. Determined to fight back, they approach the Congress of Determined Women for support. However, they discover that the man who denied them is an advocate for black rights, having chosen to hire a black man instead. His rationale? He claims he can't work with women, as they drive him to distraction.
