Cecily returns home from the sanitarium filled with optimism, but both Janet and Alec are worried about a potential relapse, treating her as if she’s still unwell. The townspeople share their concerns and refuse to allow her to go back to school. Aunt Eliza persuades Alec and Janet that the best way for everyone to regain normalcy is to treat Cecily as though she’s fully recovered. Meanwhile, Felicity grapples with her decision to leave medical school and eagerly anticipates Gus's return, planning for their wedding. Her heart shatters when she learns that Gus's ship has sunk, leaving him presumed dead.
