After Col's mother passes away, a crooked politician named Vera Watkins strikes a covert arrangement with the Births, Deaths and Marriages office to claim a long-lost son, leveraging Col's lack of family to boost her faltering political career. Col, unaware of the truth, comes to see Vera as his biological mother. As he becomes entwined in her schemes, he quickly realizes that he’s in over his head, facing challenges he never anticipated.
