Alex Mattingly is uncertain if his son Jeff's new companion, Mike, is a figment of his imagination or a real friend. In this episode, a middle-aged reporter faces the threat of being replaced by a younger colleague on the evening news. Desperate to maintain her position, she learns about a unique bottled water from a friend and decides to try it. To her delight, it rejuvenates her, but she soon realizes she must drink it daily to keep her youthful appearance. When she orders another large supply, the cost skyrockets to $200. During a conversation with the deliveryman, who refers to her as "girlie," she questions his age and he cryptically replies that she might not want to know. As she nears the end of her second bottle, she frantically searches her home for things to sell when her husband arrives. They are childless, and she shares her predicament with him, deciding to address their challenges together.
