At the bustling Big Station, Thomas the Tank Engine spends his days hauling coaches for the larger engines. His playful teasing of Gordon the Big Engine, however, frustrates Gordon immensely. When the Shunter inadvertently leaves Thomas attached to Gordon's coaches, Gordon hatches a plan to speed up and exhaust Thomas, hoping to teach him a lesson.
