Michael Gallant, a fresh medical student, joins the ER team, ready to learn under Dr. Carter's guidance. However, he is distracted by his grandmother’s declining health. Meanwhile, Dr. Elizabeth Corday grows increasingly concerned that the recent unexplained fatalities are causing other doctors to shy away from the hospital, complicating the already tense atmosphere.
