Jim Hardie receives the task of transporting a valuable diamond to the family of a wealthy lumberman in Sacramento, with a hefty payment of $80,000 in return. The diamond he carries is a replica intended to be presented as a surprise for the daughter on the eve of her wedding, replacing the original necklace that was meant to arrive in time for the celebration.
